This week/end we haven't done ABR purely for the reason of Halloween. Well for us we had a turbulent year with the diagnosis of Oatie, Oatie's grandfather passed away and our 3 monthly trips for Oatie for his ABR. Well we didn't do parties this year for the kids partly because we did go to Disneyland for our eldest two and Oatie we flew to ABR on his Birthday. Our older two missed all their Halloween festivities this week so we insanely did a Halloween party 2 days after we landed. All our friends really helped by bringing savour dishes and I made a whole dining table full of cakes, biscuits etc. Today we went trick or treating for the first time with our kids we were "waiting" for Oatie to walk last year, same for entertaining same for lots of things so now we know he has CP we're just as a family getting on with our lives rather than waiting.

Day 4 ABR training
Today is day 4 of our ABR training. Today we started our ABR machine training. I have to say how fantastic the ABR trainers are they are all first class ! Here is a photo of our very first "wrap" up of Oatie. We got the tension right but the wraps could have been aligned a lot better over the green bladder.

Day 1 ABR Training HQ
Today we started our training, we've had a great day 1; the ABR team are 1st class so loving, caring and dedicated. So knowledgeable so fantastic! They even train us at weekends to minimize disruption to the ABR recipient and families. We decided to go for an ABR machine, we think that Oatie will tolletate the machine now as he's got used to "bench" we're really excited about the ABR machine!

Why is life so complicated at age 3
Well the saga of a narrow-minded mother still plagues Oatie's school adventure. Not that there is anything wrong with mental retardation, but this mother confused Oatie's Cerebral Palsy with mental retardation and claims he is a safety risk with the other children... Hence has to have an aide...With respect.
That is just so ludicrous !!!!! That is her prejudice narrow-minded unintelligent attitude. Well his aid and another independent persons have stated he only gets upset when someone has taunted/bullied him. So I stated maybe ge needs an aide to protect him from the bullies? Maybe it could be the complaining mothers child. It has been said that as they are BOYS it is how boys behave boys being boys... I don't agree, if people any sex or gender are allowed to behave in antisocial ways then they will. Are they suggesting that the boys have started puberty at 3?
Argggggh is all that is left to be said, why do people have such ridiculous prejudiced behavior these days? ?
Well Oatie's in the middle of all this nasty and he's the true victim of the situation... No I'm not biased because I'm his mum; I don't know how but I've always been able to take a step back and view things from both sides even if it's my lids involved, like putting yourself in others shoes. Sure complain about his behavior bur don't mix safety can't go to school etc etc with it as that goes too far and is prejudiced behavior.
That aside we did 3 hours yesterday and 2:15 today.

Disabled and preschool!
O.M.G! You won't believe this, we in a nutshell have one or two mums at Oatie's preschool who DON'T want him there without an aide; in case he hurts their children. Where as it to me looks more the other way around. Well no child or adult is an angel we all even us adults have moments that we are not proud of, Oatie's aid goes back home today she's from another province.
Oatie did scratch one of the said children, they the teachers said it was unprovoked! I was more than happy to be open and discuss it and see if we could get the kids to cooperate better. However today I went in to see the dynamics for myself, and! Well what an eye opener! There was a total lack of supervision and the 'said' complaining mothers child I'm sorry to say is a thug, there was another boy in there who 'needs' some help, his behavior was just shocking! he went around for 5 minutes hurting others, snatching, kicking objects, and just such antisocial behaviour. And this other boy just taunts Oatie and also picks on the girls, he stood on my knee to try and lunge to hit Oatie! But of course! it's the disabled child that's the problem. Oatie, shouts at him amd Oatie has to endure one kid saying very slowly and in his face 'hello are you in there' another just ignoring oatie saying no so after the 5th time Oatie did get upset. Like I said no childs an angel handicapped or not. However look how it's all Oatie's fault! It takes two to Tango. Yes, Oatie didn't react in a socially acceptable way - scratching (we're working on that) I saw it all in action today, I wanted to observe more than anything, I could only take 45 minutes being in that room it was so upsetting, so Oatie basically gets bullied, provoked, and then when he eventually reacts, Oatie gets done for it! I said if Oatie gets excluded from school then the 'thugs' should too. Today we did 2:15 and yesterday nearly 3 hours.

Sorry for the lack of posts...
Today we did 3 hours of ABR, Oatie was on form and insisted on watching 2 films naturally in French. Oatie's mum had the weekend off as Oatie's mum is a volunteer for a youth group which went camping. Oatie's dad noticed more core strength of Oatie being able to walk on our hardwood floors in socks and do a circuit around the clothing rack at the dance center. Oatie's snuggled up in bed so hopefully Oatie's mum will snap a picture of him tomorrow...
Oatie's Dad did his ABR during the weekend! and did 3 hours.

We're rolling - we've got our ABR rhythym back!
Wednesday and Thursday we've managed 3 hours each day which is great. Early bench works really really well and puts a spring my step knowing by the school run we've done an hour or so. But I think we'd do that every other day during the week.
